Customize Flowcharts for Advertisers

Here's How to Customize Flowcharts in Bionic for Advertisers.

In Bionic for Advertisers, you can customize your flowchart regardless of what level (organization, agency team, campaign) you are building your flowchart for. 

You can change various aspects of your flowchart, such as dates, grouping, and color coding.  

You can also create multiple views for different scenarios and purposes.

Create a Customized View

When you initially access Flowcharts, the default view will show your placement data by Channel. However, you may want to customize how your flowchart is presented based on what you need to present or report on, and who may be viewing the flowchart. For example, if you are showing this to a client you may need to report specific KPIs and focus costs on Total instead of Net.

Customizations can include date ranges, grouping, color coding display values, and summarization. Custom views can also be saved to make them easy to access later.

Here's how to create a new or update an existing Customized View:

  1. In the Flowchart Tab, Click on Customize View.

This will open a menu that will let you make changes to date ranges, time scale, grouping, color coding, and more.

Below we will cover each section of this menu to give you a better idea of what each customization setting does.

Update Date Range and Calendar Type

By default, your flowchart will display all of your placements from your media plan.  You can customize the view based on specific dates or time periods.

Here's how to update the flowchart Date Range:

  1. Click on Any Time to adjust the dates.
  2. There are 3 ways you can choose your date range:
    1. You can select from pre-defined dates on the left, such as This Year or Next Quarter.
    2. You can enter specific dates in the Start / End boxes.
    3. You can use the calendar selector on the right to pull up the calendar you want and customize by Calendar Type: Standard (Week Begins on Sunday) or Broadcast (Week begins on Monday).
  3. Click Apply to apply date range filter.

NOTE: To remove the date filter, press the 'x' icon.

Select Your Flowchart's Time Scale

Time Scale provides options for breaking out data on a Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly basis. 

Here's how to select your customized Time Scale:

  1. Choose a Time Scale by clicking on the preferred Time Scale.
  2. Click Apply.

Group the Data in the Flowchart

By default, flowcharts are grouped by Channel. Bionic offers two levels of groupings to allow for further customization. 

Here's how to customize the way you Group By:

  1. Click on the first dropdown in Group By setting and select the field you wish to Group By.  You can also choose to have no grouping by selecting None.
  2. Optionally, select a second level of grouping by clicking on the second dropdown, or select None.
  3. Click Apply.

Color Code Your Flowchart

Color coding allows you to apply line items to the flowchart based on a field in the media plan. This can help convey data points in a visually appealing manner.

Here is how to color code your flowchart:

  1. Use the dropdown to select what field to color code by.
  2. Select the Show Color Coding Labels above bars checkbox to display the value with the bars.
  3. You can adjust these colors by clicking on the color next to value, and selecting from the color chart. You can even use your Client's branding colors!
  4. Click Apply.

Add Display Values to Your Flowchart

Display Values will represent Cost and KPI data that you may need to represent in your flowchart. These include Cost breakouts between Net Cost, Agency Commission, Production and Delivery Costs. It also include Planned and Actual KPI data.

Here's how to add display values:

  1. In the Display Values drop down, select the Display Value you want to include
  2. Click +Display Value to add additional display values.
  3. Click Apply.

TIP: When you have multiple display values, you can drag the values to reorder them.

NOTE: Click on the "x" icon to remove a display value.

Display Placements and Placement Text

You can choose to display placements on the flowchart as well as how you want to placement text to be displayed.

Placements

The option to Show Placements will determine whether Placement level data is presented, or if you would prefer a rolled up summary based on your Group By options. 

Here's how to Show Placements on Flowchart:

  1. To Show Placements, include a checkmark in the Show Placement on Flowchart option. Or remove the checkmark to exclude placements.
  2. Click Apply.

Placement Text

When displaying placements, Bionic will display the "Placement Name". If this name is long, it may run off of the screen view. You can opt to wrap this line to ensure the complete Placement Name is included.

Here's how to customize your placement text:

  1. Select one of the two options for Placement Text:
    1. Wrap Multiple Lines - Will wrap any text to multiple lines as needed to display the entire content
    2. Show Single Line - Will display a limited amount of text up to the end of the line space followed by ellipses (...)
  2. Click Apply.

Save Your Customized Views 

Once you have completed customizing a flowchart view, you can then save it to use in the future in other Agency Teams.

NOTE: The default view is called "By Channel".  If you make any changes, this view will flag itself with (customized)  to let you know it has changed from the original default view.


Here is how to save your customized view:

  1. Once you have applied any changes to the view, a Save button will appear. If you wish to save your view changes, click Save.
  2. Select how you would like to Save this View:
    1. Choose the Update the View option if you wish to save the changes to the current view.
    2. Choose the Save As a New View option if you wish to create a completely new view.
  3. If saving as a New View, enter the name you wish to call this view.
  4. Identify whether this view should be available to just this Agency Team, or for All.
  5. Click Save to confirm the changes.

The new view will now be available in the Views Dropdown list.

You also have the ability to view any saved customized view in different currencies by selecting the Currency dropdown.

Delete Your Customized Views

You are able to delete views except for the default view By Channel.

Here's how to delete a customized view:

1. Click on the Delete View button.

2. Confirm you wish to Yes, Delete This View.
